Airtel can win the race of 5G in India, yes you heard it right, news coming that Airtel Introduces first 5G Spectrum in India with a Speed of 300Mbps in Hyderabad and can become Nations first 5G goaler before Jio to win its spot before Reliance Group.
In our country, we have mainly two major telecom companies Airtel and Jio and Recently Bharati Airtel announced that they became the first telecom service in India to demonstrate and organize 5G services in India.
On 28th January 2021, they demonstrated their live 5G service in Hyderabad through a live demo. The most promising thing in this demonstration is that it can seamlessly operate within the same spectrum block using a first of its kind, dynamic spectrum sharing method. Thus we can still use 5G with our existing 4G sim cards!
Airtel Introduces first 5G Spectrum in India- Report
Whenever the Government starts sell of 5G spectrum, Airtel is ready to provide 5G to masses because it claims itself as a 5G ready network. In this demonstration, Airtel used its 1800mhz band to showcase its 5G demo.
Now you will think how is this possible as the Government still didn’t do the auction of its 5G spectrum! In this demo, Airtel used Dynamic Spectrum Sharing method which has its advantage of using both 4G and 5G through the same block of its 1800mhz frequency and is currently being used to feature 4G networks in our country.
Through this demo, Airtel 5G can deliver up to 10x speeds, 10x latency, and 100x concurrency than its existing 4G networks. It claims that with this new 5G network, users in Hyderabad can download a full-length movie in a matter of seconds on a 5G smartphone. The telecom company said that they had partnered with Ericsson to complete the commercial trial in Hyderabad. The company also claimed that they are the only fully functional 5G server in India.

MD & CEO of Bharati Airtel Gopal Vittal said, “I am very proud of our engineers who have worked tirelessly to showcase this incredible capability in Tech City, Hyderabad today. Every one of our investments is future-proofed as this game-changing test in Hyderabad proves. With Airtel being the first operator to demonstrate this capability, we have shown again that we have always been the first in India to pioneer new technologies in our quest for empowering Indians everywhere.”
Through this, we can think of cheaper 5G prices in India in its initial phases because they are not required to fully transform their infrastructure and can run 5G in their previous towers only.
That said, this test did showcase the readiness of Airtel and, when 5G does get permission to have a public launch, the company will have something to offer, rather than just stating that it is going to launch it’s 5G on a particular date.
