There are multiple ways-

- Use of Merge Duplicate Contact Feature in Android
- Using Google Contact List from your Gmail
In every step there’s a different way, some are simple & come are complex but all perform the same way.
Using an App for it is no far a good option where 2nd is complex & time-taking but the last one is most easy & quick to perform.
1st. How to Merge Contact through Apps
There are plenty of apps available on Google Play but I am listing some few which I liked based on Working.
Cleaner – Merge Duplicate Contacts-
Having the same address book for many years, switching phones, importing contacts from other sources – can all cause the appearance of duplicate contacts.
Cleaner will help you to find and merge these duplications, by allocating contacts with similar names or identical phone numbers and email addresses. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simpler.merge&hl=en_IN
Duplicate Contacts Fixer and Remover–
We all wish for an organized and clutter-free contacts list in our Android smartphone. However, searching and deleting duplicate contacts manually is a damn tough task. But with a simple solution like Duplicate Contacts Fixer, you can easily manage and optimize your
phone address book with ease. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.systweak.duplicatecontactfixer&hl=en_IN
These 2 are most rated & most popular plus safe to use but I don’t consider them as APPs can turn to Demon for you anytime (if uk what I mean!)
2nd. How to Merge Contacts with XLS
Yes its also a way through getting in but its a long long process way which takes your time & mind, first you make a VCF File then you Convert it to XLS & then Open it in Excel>Apply Filter>Find Duplicates & Delete them (so confusing & hectic)
NOTE-Merging Contacts doesn’t mean of deleting them, its just mean removing duplicates of the same copy
3rd. How to Merge Duplicate Contact on Android (Default Settings)
The Easiest and Quickest way to perform!
Go to Contacts>Go to Settings> Go Organise Contacts> Go to Merge Duplicate Contacts>Select Merge>List of Duplicate Contacts will be Shown>Select Merge Again> You are done now.
After doing this you can try to find the same number which was occurring multiple times and change will tell you what has happened.
NOTE– On Stock Android or any other UI this Section or Merge option can appear different but on every Android Smartphone it is available like on Asus you just have to open Contacts then at the Left Top button you can find Merge option in suggestions.
4th. How to Merge Duplicate Contacts with Gmail
It only helps if your Contact book is on Google Cloud & is synced with your Gmail account otherwise it has no use.
Go to Google Contacts (LINK HERE)> Go to Duplicates> Go to option Merge (it might take some time to find Duplicates)> Click on Merge & then again Import your Contacts or Sync your Phone with Google Account Contacts.
These ways are the best to Remove, Merge Duplicate Contacts from your Phone Book as now you will not get into the loop again and if you feel like this or things start getting mazey then you can perform one of these steps as Sol.
